McCoy’s is looking to reassure shoppers that tortilla chips don’t have to be triangular – a good idea given that shoppers are lingering less when they hit the supermarket, making quicker decisions.

So how to do it? Stage a lucha libre-style fight between two corn chips – Muchos McCoy and Tony Tortilla – obviously. In another nod to coronavirus, the ad uses stock footage in an original and funny way, crudely superimposing the cartoon-y chips over the heads of the wrestlers. It looks delightfully daft, and comedian Alex Brooker is on hand to provide a lively commentary, speculating that a dustpan and brush might be necessary to sweep up the loser.

That loser is, of course, poor old Tony. “Holy guacamole” indeed.
