Top 10 global launches: from bison jerky to posh salmon

USA: Bison jerky

Bacon doesn’t just come from pigs; just take a look at Epic’s new offering - Bison Bacon Chia Jerky Bites - for proof. These handcrafted snacks appeal to hardcore red meat fans, says Epic, and are made with organic chia seeds and raisins.

Poland: Pâté with added fibre

Profi has expanded its range of pâtés with fibre-enriched varieties. The new products – which come in plain, mushroom, tomato and paprika flavours – appeal to health and weight-conscious consumers, particularly women, according to Profi.

Japan: Smoked scallop in oil

The Tinned Smoked Scallop in Oil, from Maruha Nichiro, is designed to accompany whiskey. The domestically sourced scallops have been smoked heavily using beech wood chip, and packaged 'gently by hand', apparently.

USA: Craft beer sausages

Meat-eating hipsters rejoice! You can now enjoy craft beer in a sausage thanks to Hillshire Farm’s American Craft Beer Brat with Third Shift Amber Lager. It’s made with 100% pork and claims to be free from nitrates and nitrites, added MSG and fillers.

Australia: Premium roasted salmon

This isn’t any old canned salmon; this is premium roasted salmon with an Asian-style sweet chilli dressing. Manufacturer Tassel Group say it’s made from all natural ingredients, high in omega 3 and an ideal addition to sandwiches, pastas, risottos and salads.

Germany: Tapas range

Campofrio’s Serrano Pork Ham, Chorizo & Salami Tapas Selection capitalises on the rising popularity of Spanish cuisine. The authentic product is gluten free and retails in a 120g pack in Austria, Norway and Denmark, as well as Germany.

Brazil: Spiced pork loin

Preparing meat joints for roasting can be labour intensive. To combat this BRF has released an oven ready pork loin, seasoned with garlic, onion and herbs, under its Sadia Lombo Fácil! brand. The product can go straight from freezer to oven.

USA: Snacking plates

Tapping into the trend for protein-rich, healthier and filling snacks, Hillshire Snacking has launched a Genoa Salame with Gouda Cheese & Toasted Rounds (along with other flavours). The premium snacking pack contains 17g of protein.

Canada: Chicken & mango snacks

This ready-to-eat snack helps to ‘ward off hunger in a healthy way’ and pairs grilled and seasoned chicken with mango pieces. Described as a convenient way to snack, it can be used as a salad kit or standalone snack.

USA: Sweet chilli Atlantic salmon

For those looking for premium salmon without the hassle, Cedar Bay has introduced a Sweet Chili Cedar Planked Atlantic Salmon which is oven and grill ready. The brand says its farm raised salmon is delicately seasoned before being hand placed onto a pre-soaked cedar plank and smoked.
