Highland Game has won a “groundbreaking contract” with Tesco in England following the success of its products north of the border.

The company’s Chef’s Selection range of sausages, burgers, grillsteaks and meatballs - which is exclusive to Tesco - went into Tesco stores in England on Monday.

It was previously only available in Tesco Scotland, where the range launched in April.

The roll-out of Chef’s Selection to Tesco England was a “new and a groundbreaking contract” for Highland Game, said a spokeswoman. “We are thrilled we are launching the Chef’s Selection range into England, based on and thanks to its sales success in Scotland,” she said.

New premium products have also been launched into the range. Diced venison in a red wine, rosemary & thyme marinade (£3.99 for 400g) and venison steaks with a whisky jus (£6.99 for 350g) also went into Tesco England and Scotland stores on Monday.

A venison loin (£8.99 for a 225g) - another new range addition - launched in Tesco Scotland this week.
