Iceland is planning to move to 100% British beef for its entire product range, The Grocer can reveal.

The frozen foods retailer already uses 100% British beef in its burgers and some ready meals, but a spokesman said: “We are working to achieve 100% British sourcing for Iceland’s other beef products”.

He declined to give further details or say when Iceland planned to make the switch.

On 15 January, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland reported it had found horse DNA in Iceland Quarter Pounders. Iceland said the FSAI test was not accredited, but last week backtracked, acknowledging the FSAI had obtained valid results.
