All lambs currently sourced for Asda from Wales will continue to be processed in Wales, the supermarket’s new lamb supplier, Dunbia, has said.

Asda dropped Vion’s Welsh Country Foods plant on Anglesey in favour of a new lamb supplier earlier in January, and this week confirmed the supplier was Dunbia.

News of Asda moving away from Welsh Country Foods sparked widespread concerns about the future of the Welsh lamb industry.

But Dunbia said “all lambs currently sourced from Wales for Asda will continue to be processed in Wales”. Asda also stressed its customers would still be able to buy Welsh lamb following its move to Dunbia.
