Pilgrim’s UK has kicked off an £800,000 investment into its Bromborough site in a bid to drive operational efficiency.

The company has installed two inline processes at the site designed to speed up the packing process and increase capacity across some of Pilgrim’s UK’s most popular products, including pork kebabs, steaks, and boneless leg and shoulder joints.

The lines are now operational and were increasing outputs by as much as 10% per week, said the brand.

“This latest investment is part of our ongoing strategic focus on increasing operational efficiency across our UK business and innovating to deliver the most exciting new products for our customers,” said Julian Weeks, site director at Pilgrim’s UK.

Another part of the investment has gone towards a new dusting facility that allows products to be seasoned with herbs and spices more efficiently, simultaneously coating the top and bottom of each product.

This facility was utilised throughout the summer to meet the increase in demand during barbecue season, predominantly producing kebabs and steaks.

The investment will allow the site to meet increasing customer demand, which is expected to double during the peak Christmas season.

“Our Bromborough factory plays a vital role in the Pilgrim’s UK network, and by continuing to invest in market-leading equipment like this, and in our over 350-strong team of dedicated people, we are ensuring the site will continue to prosper,” added Weeks.
