Real Good Food has bought the ISO2 Nutrition sport supplement brand from administrator Cre-8tive Health for a nominal amount.

The Swindon, Wiltshire-based business it has bought has developed a range of bodybuilding supplements, whey protein and sports nutrition lines and is one of the leading suppliers within the sports supplements market, according to Real Good Food.

ISO2 will be integrated with Real Good Food’s Garrett Ingredients business, which has been a long-standing customer.

Pieter Totté, executive chairman, said: “We are pleased to announce this acquisition, which is in line with our stated strategy of identifying and adding bolt-on businesses within our existing three pillars of cake decoration, premium bakery and in this instance food ingredients.”

Garrett’s had enjoyed a long-established relationship with the business and the deal enabled Real Good Food to enter “a new and interesting channel”, adding product and portfolio diversification, which it he said was “a deliberate move” as Real Good Food decreased Garrett’s dependency on the dairy and sugar commodities markets.

The news comes hard on the heels of the announcement of a £9.4m exceptional profit in the first half to the end of September, attributed to the £44.4m sale of Napier Brown, its troubled sugar business to Tereos Group, of France. The deal significantly slashed the group’s debt from £36.3m to £3m.
