Organic fruit now represents a third of all apples exported from Washington State to the UK, according to George Smith, UK promotional director of the state's Apple Commisssion.
The range of organic fruit includes Gala, Braeburn, Fuji, Goldens, Grannys, Pink Lady and Red Delicious.
Gala and Braeburn are the subject of a 10% discount offer with Sainsbury, with the message printed directly on to the bags.
Smith said the promotion was the commission's third organic promotion. A fourth would follow after Christmas.
