Somerfield and chilled consolidator Grampian Country Transport (GCT) have announced that GCT has entered into an agreement with Logistics Solutions Cambs to take over the operation of its chilled distribution warehouse in Littleport, near Ely.
Mr Collin Stott, general manager of GCT stated: “We are now better placed than ever to build on our reputation for service excellence by being able to offer out customers and in particular Somerfield a far more efficient link in the supply chain.”
Mark Sarginson, national primary distribution manager for Somerfield, added: “The opening of the new hub would allow GCT to present Somerfield with a far more efficient and cost effective primary distribution option.”
The warehouse is expected to initially handle up to 1,000 pallets a night, which could potentially double within the first 12 months.
