What was your first job? I was a trolley boy for Asda, so I was clearly destined to be working in this industry.

What’s been your worst job interview? For a double glazing firm which didn’t even involve an interview, just a requirement to dial a number and sell. It was demoralising and has really impacted how we recruit and manage our team.

What was the first music single you bought? Breathe by The Prodigy (on cassette).

How do you describe your job to your mates? I’m the Prince of Pork… In all seriousness, as COO I’m bringing our operations together.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Making the piggin’ magic happen. Bringing new porky wares to market and expanding our brand into new categories.

What is the least rewarding part? Most foodie founders will say they didn’t go into this to fill out long detailed retailer forms and online supplier platforms.

What is your motto in life? Opportunities don’t happen, you create them. My co-founder Nick Coleman and I really stick to this one.

If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? Unlimited international travel.

Do you have any phobias? I hate frogs.

If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? Support to improve compliance, particularly for early stage businesses.

What luxury would you have on a desert island? A hammock.

What animal most reflects your personality? An elephant. They are social, loyal and attentive.

What’s your favourite film? The Shawshank Redemption. The story is so meaningful and real but ends in a way you want it to.

What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? A charity full monty with a group of guys from my karate club. I was 17 and it was total cringe!

Which celebrity would you most like to work with? Denzel Washington… he’s the heroic everyman in whatever role he plays.

What would your death row meal be? Calamari with a garlic dip to start. Sri Lankan chicken and beef curry. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. With a sprinkling of pork crackling.
