Patak’s has developed Snack Naans, which it claims are the first fresh Indian breads aimed specifically at snacking.
Available in two fillings, grilled pepper & tomato and onion bhaji, the fresh naans can be eaten cold or put in a toaster for a hot snack, said Patak’s.
It represents the first move by the company into snacking, said
Fiona Mannion, group marketing director.
“Consumers can now enjoy some of their favourite flavours of India as a quick and tasty snack.” They come in packs of four (rsp: £1.49) and are launched on July 21.
The Indian snacks market has grown 43% year-on-year to £488m [ACNielsen, 52 w/e November 21, 2004].
BakeMark UK has also created two filled Spicy Naan lines - vegetable & chick pea and chicken curry - targeting in-store bakeries.
The frozen naans require baking for 18 minutes and can be stored in a hot cabinet for up to an hour.
