Position: Marketing director Company: Maxxium UK The job: Pennell will be responsible for organising global marketing initiatives for brands such as Absolut, Remy Martin, The Famous Grouse and Plymouth Gin. He will manage an advertising and promotions budget of £40m. "Maxxium's portfolio goes from strength to strength," he said. "Our vision is to work with our off-trade partners and shareholders to develop customer-led initiatives to drive further growth." He said he would particularly focus on ensuring brands "successfully create in-store theatre". Background: Pennell has been business development director, brands, since he joined Maxxium UK in 1999. He was responsible for cognacs, wines, champagnes and speciality liqueurs. He began his career as a graduate trainee at the Milk Marketing Board. He became UK brand manager for Tia Maria and Canadian Club at United Rum Merchants, then international brand manager for Canadian Club.
