sainsburys frozen coconut milk smoothie pellets

Sainsbury’s has more than doubled its range of frozen fruit, with the launch of smoothie pellet packs, fruit & vegetable smoothie mixes and five new frozen fruit packs.

The retailer launched the products at the beginning of May, in order to tap the trend for fruit and veg drinks with a “convenient short-cut” for consumers.

The smoothie pellet packs contain 25 servings of frozen pressed juice, which can be added to smoothies to “boost” their flavour. Three variants are available: Acai Berry, Coconut Milk (rsp: £2/100g/25 pellets) and Wheatgrass (rsp: £3/100g/25 pellets).

Alongside the pellets, Sainsbury’s has launched a new range of smoothie mixes, called My Goodness. The mixes contain half fruit and half vegetables, in four flavours: Beautiful Berries, Beetroot Blast, Carrot Crush and Glowing Greens (rsp: £2.50/480g).

The existing Sainsbury’s frozen fruit range has also been updated with new packaging and five new variants. Watermelon Slices, Whole Strawberries, Pineapple, Blackberries and Peach & Nectarine slices have all been added to the range (rsp: £2/500g).

All of the new products come in zip-lock packaging, to make it easy for consumers to reseal the packs and reduce food waste, according to Sainsbury’s.

“Not only are the new smoothie mixes and pellets a quick and tasty way to reach your five-a-day, but by being frozen, they’ll keep for ages and will help save on food waste too,” said the retailer’s frozen food buyer Eleri Knowles. “No more chopping, peeling and inevitably binning the bits you don’t use.”
