Expert's verdict: 7/10
?This product looks premium and the Loyd Grossman name adds to its quality image, especially as he doesn't endorse products often. The packaging is excellent, though a resealable pack may have added a nice twist. The nuts are lovely, though they are quite rich and indulgent so not something you would eat a lot of on your own. They are perfect for dinner parties, though. At this price they aren't an everyday option, but shoppers could justify the higher price tag.

Consumer's verdict: 8/10
?It's not easy to tell what the product is initially but the packaging is eye-catching and looks like a premium product. The smell and the taste was really good, especially the ones with the olive wedges. The bags are generous and have a good selection of nuts. The smell was overpowering at first, but not unpleasant. They would go well with drinks and I would serve them at a party. However, the sundried tomato ones smelt like a powdered soup mix. I would buy them again because the price is reasonable.

A year down the line... Birds Eye Mediterraneo Company: Birds Eye Launch price: Vegetables £1.99 for 350g; fish £2.99 for 400g Today's price: the same Acid test verdict: 3/5
Birds Eye Mediterraneo was launched in June to increase interest and diversity in the frozen veg and fish sectors through its positioning as a range of authentic recipe dishes created by Mediterranean chefs. But the range has not "achieved sufficient scale to remain sustainable", a company spokeswoman said. In the light of this, it is under review, she added.
