Forthglade and Assisi both specialise in premium, less processed petfoods

Natural petfood supplier Assisi Pet Care has ramped up its acquisition campaign by snapping up UK premium pet brand Forthglade.

Manufactured in Devon, Forthglade’s portfolio of natural petfoods includes treats and wet and dry food with minimal processing.

Founded in 1971 and bought by private equity firm IK Partners in 2020, Forthglade turned over £39.5m in sales in the year to 30 September 2025, with EBITDA rising 26.8% to £4.7m.

It has joined the Assisi portfolio alongside other premium brands such as Burns, Hollings, HiLife, Maced, Pet Munchies, Yakers and Naw, a premium treat brand bought in May 2026.

“We have long admired Forthglade and the business David and his team have built,” said Assisi CEO Chris Melander.

“To create such a strong brand, trusted by pet owners is a real achievement, underpinned by a passionate commitment to natural, high-quality nutrition. Forthglade is an excellent fit for Assisi, and we are excited to invest behind the brand and the business to unlock its next phase of growth.”

Based in London, Assisi holds manufacturing sites in the UK and Poland, serving specialist pet, grocery and e-commerce retailers across Europe.

Under IK Partners, Forthglade has ramped up DTC sales in pursuit of an omnichannel distribution model. Under CEO David Cox, the business has expanded its production capacity and broadened its portfolio from wet food to include cold-pressed dry food, treats, and supplements.

Cox said that joining the Assisi group marked an “exciting new chapter” for Forthglade. He called the acquisition “testament to the incredible journey” the brand had undertaken.

“I am immensely proud of how we have developed the business, establishing Forthglade as a trusted leader in premium, minimally processed petfood,” he said.

“None of this would have been possible without the dedication, passion and hard work of our exceptional team. Partnering with Assisi provides the strategic support to accelerate our growth and we are all excited about the next stage for the business.”

Assisi Pet Care has been owned by Chicago-based private equity firm Windpoint Partners since October 2023.
