Tea brand Bird & Blend has launched a limited-edition Iced Pickle Matcha to tap into trending flavours.
The drink combines the brand’s Lemon Matcha with tonic and a shot of pickle juice, topped with pickles and fresh lemon slices.
It will be available in all 31 Bird & Blend stores nationwide from 1 to 13 August, priced at £5.25. It adds to the brand’s iced tea lineup, which includes an Iced Vanilla Matcha Latte, Iced Matcha Lemonade, Iced Chai, Moji Tea, Strawberry Lemonade, and Unicorn Fizz – a blue raspberry iced tea.
The launch comes amid booming consumer demand for both matcha and pickle flavours, driven by social media.
Pickle flavours have been rising since 2023, when TikTok demand prompted Heinz to add a limited-edition pickle-flavoured ketchup.
This April, Nespresso launched a social-media inspired Pickled Coffee Cola featuring a Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro Vertuo pod brewed over ice and combined with diet cola and pickle brine.
Meanwhile, matcha has been one of the most trending beverages of the past two years, with various brands and coffee chains rolling out matcha-flavoured food and drink.
Just last week, KFC introduced matcha to its menu for the first time in Iced Strawberry Shortcake and Iced Vanilla variants, while Greggs also jumped on the matcha trend earlier this year with a trio of iced matcha offerings. It has since expanded the range to include an Iced Blueberry Matcha.
