The NPD will launch exclusive to Ocado on 3 July

Premium tortilla chip brand Blanco Niño is taking on Holy Moly, having unveiled its own high-pressure processed guacamole.

Weighing in at 200g, the dip is 33.3% larger than Holy Moly’s high-pressure processed Original Guacamole 150g.

It also contains a higher proportion of avocado: 92% compared with 87% in Holy Moly’s version. However, Holy Moly does also sell a Smashed Avocado 150g dip that contains 93% avocado.

Much like Holy Moly’s guacamole, Blanco Niño’s dip contains no artificial ingredients and was high-pressure processed “to ensure the best taste”, it said.

The NPD will launch exclusive to Ocado on 3 July (rsp: £2.95/200g).

Paired with Blanco Niño’s range of premium tortilla chips, Guacamole would offer “a complete Mexican experience to consumers for snacking and social gathering moments like picnics”, said the brand.

This was “the natural next step for Blanco Niño and has been requested by customers for years”, said Blanco Niño innovation & category expansion manager Marine Soret.

“We always take the time to source quality ingredients and create an authentic experience that honours Mexico in everything we do.”

It comes a time of rapid growth for Blanco Niño, which secured Sainsbury’s and Co-op listings for its tortilla chips (rsp: £3/170g) last autumn, followed by a Waitrose listing in May.

This year it said it planned “to accelerate retail growth while ensuring longevity by building a brand that will stand the test of time”.
