Gordon Ramsay is set to appear in a series of adverts for Burger King

Burger King has teamed up with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to launch an £11 wagyu burger.

Made with 100% British wagyu beef, the burger features caramelised onion, pink pickled onions, rocket, crispy onions and a caramelised onion mayo in a seeded brioche bun. It is available nationwide now for a limited time.

While Ramsay has not created the burger, described by the fast food chain as its “most premium burger to date”, he is set to appear in a series of adverts, giving it his stamp of approval. The new campaign, titled ‘Not Made by Gordon’, will run across TV, social and digital.

“Take it from me, the wagyu tastes flaming great and anyone trying it will be able to taste the truly gourmet quality of the beef… which is so important for any great burger,” said Ramsay.

”It’s amazing to see how Burger King UK have made wagyu so accessible to the public, and I absolutely love how the product celebrates the best of British beef farming.”

The Wagyu burger

While wagyu is known for its Japanese heritage, this burger crosses wagyu cattle with British dairy cows, sourced from grass-fed herds across 700 UK farms.

Burger King UK director of food development Christian Binney added: “The wagyu is our most premium burger to date and a true innovation that delivers gourmet flavour to our guests nationwide.

“From the dedicated farmers raising wagyu herds, to our restaurant teams perfecting the flame-grilled taste, it has been crafted with expertise at every stage. And when Gordon Ramsay himself says he wishes he made your burger, you know you’re onto something special – having him involved really is exciting for us.”
