British tennis ace Greg Rusedski is back on Centre Court from Monday (July 28) in a TV ad for Buxton Mineral Water which sends up his infamous Wimbledon temper tantrum.

The player is the star of the latest part of an £8m support programme which follows on from the brand’s sponsorship of the SW19 championships. In the commercial, to be screened nationally for three weeks, Rusedski shows he now sees the funny side of his outburst.

Re-enacting the tempestuous few seconds when he lost his cool, Buxton is once again seen ‘preserving Britain’s purity’ as the umpire uses a bottle of the branded H2O to calm Rusedski down.

Receiving a jet of water in the face, Rusedski licks his lips and says: “Good call, I needed that.”

Aoife Burnell, marketing controller for Buxton Natural Mineral Water, said: “It was an excellent opportunity to extend our current advertising.

“Quite out of character, Greg Rusedski reacted with great passion over a line call at Wimbledon. We’ve brought some humour to the situation and Greg welcomed the opportunity to see the funny side of it, even though he got covered in water in the process.

“An added bonus for us is that he really is a very good actor.”

The ad will be broadcast on ITV, Channels 4 and 5 and on satellite.
