Castle MacLellan has partnered with Asda and Co-op for the launch of a new range this autumn

Castle MacLellan has partnered with Asda and Co-op for the launch of a two-strong range this autumn.

The brand has launched Castle MacLellan Chicken Liver Parfait (rsp: £3.50/100g) and Castle MacLellan Smoked Salmon Pâté (rsp: £3.50/100g).

The chicken variant is a “silky parfait” made with Scottish cream and Dumfriesshire heather honey. It will launch into Asda from 28 October.

Meanwhile, the salmon SKU is made of smoked salmon and includes botanicals of Scottish craft gin, lemon and dill. It will launch into Asda and Co-op from 1 November.

“People are cutting back on dining out but trading up at home, with ‘dinner for tonight’ now one of the fastest-growing sectors and a category growth driver for pâtés,” said Gareth Watson, marketing manager at Castle MacLellan. “Castle MacLellan’s new artisan parfaits and pâtés bring food lovers the trusted quality and provenance they’re looking for, helping retailers grow the premium tier and drive repeat purchase.”

The new products will launch in 467 Asda and Co-op stores and form part of a wider growth plan for the company, which said more products would follow later this year and into 2026.

The launch will be supported by a ‘Bring taste to your table’ campaign, which will kick off in November.

The business said it wanted to broaden choice in the market and reinforce its position as a leading artisan producer in the chilled aisle.

“The pâté fixture itself is changing,” said Watson. “While standard and value ranges have seen challenges, the premium tier is seeing double-digit growth, fuelled by shoppers trading up for trusted brands and more distinctive recipes.

“Our focus on chef-developed recipes and Scottish sourcing means we are well placed to capture this momentum.”
