The Consumers’ Association has attacked breakfast cereal manufacturers for lacing their cereals with high levels of sugar and salt. The CA tested 100 branded breakfast cereals and found 85% contained ‘a lot’ of sugar (ie 10g per 100g of product), 9% ‘a lot’ of saturated fat (20g/100g) and 40% ‘a lot’ of salt (1.25g/100g).
