Booming sales at English vintner Chapel Down have led the company to upgrade its profit guidance for the year.
Net revenues grew 19% in the first half of 2026, as investments in marketing and an emphasis on its premium sparkling wines grew sales to £9.4m.
Gross margin climbed 3.5 percentage points to 49.6%, leading to a 27% uplift in adjusted EBITDA to £1.3m.
While the company remained lossmaking, its pre-tax loss was cut by 20% to £550k.
Chapel Down now expects its adjusted EBITDA will be at least 10% higher for the full year than the market had estimated.
“We are delighted with the continued progress our team has made during the first half of the year,” said CEO James Pennefather.
“We have seen growth across all channels, increasing market share and continued momentum in our strategic traditional method sparkling portfolio, which demonstrate the benefits of the investments we have made in the Chapel Down brand, our routes to market and our asset base.”
He added that the continuing premiumisation of the company’s sales mix provided evidence that the focus on champagne-type wines was working.
“Our board remains keen to capitalise on this in future,” he said.
