What was your first ever job?

A Saturday job at M&S.

Give us a quick run down on your career to date. I joined EMAP in 1992 in advertising sales. In 1997 I started a PR consultancy, but in September 2006 I found something I'm really passionate about, Kefir, and decided to import it to the UK.

How did you get to where you are today? By believing in myself, deciding what I want to do and getting on with it.

Has your career followed a logical path? I think so, from advertising to PR - the sales experience has been invaluable. The food industry is different - but somewhere I've always wanted to be.

What is the best decision you have made in your career? To become self employed. It has given me a lot of freedom.

What is the worst? Turning down a job to work on Screen International and missing the Cannes film festival.

Who do you most admire in the grocery industry? Businesses that promote natural foods and health.

Do you have a mentor and how have they helped you in your career? Yes, he has helped me since starting the PR business. He's practical, logical and wise and keeps my feet on the ground.

If you could change one thing in the grocery industry what would it be? Nourish Kefir would already be sold throughout the UK.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Getting positive feedback from people who enjoy our drink.

What is the least rewarding part? Accounts paper work.

If you could start your career again, what would you do differently and why? I would have joined the food industry sooner.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry today? Well, as I'm the one starting out, if anyone wants to give me some useful advice that would be great!

What do you like doing when you are not working? Enjoying life with family and friends, exercising, travel and singing.

Where do you hope to be in five years' time? With an established product range that people love, from a great company.
