Costa Coffee has signed a new 10-year deal with Cineworld to open stores in up to 26 cinema locations in the UK.

As part of the agreement, Costa will replace the current coffee offer, which consists of Starbucks-operated cinema stores, with the rollout taking place throughout the year.

The first few stores are due to open this summer, and the majority of sites are expected to open by the end of 2026.

The pair said the 10-year agreement is expected to deliver a “significant” long-term sales opportunity.

Under the collaboration, Costa will introduce its full range of beverages and food, including its core coffee offer, hot food and bakery items.

Each store will feature Costa’s latest store design with a mixture of sit-in and takeaway options. They will also include self-service order screens and a dedicated collection point.

All existing staff at the current coffee operator’s stores will be offered the opportunity to be retained and retrained in line with Costa’s standards.

“We’re pleased to be working with Cineworld to support the continued expansion of Costa Coffee’s footprint across the UK,” said Costa Coffee express and corporate sales director UK&I Andrew Miller.

“This collaboration enables us to further strengthen our presence within high-footfall leisure environments, aligning with our strategy to meet customers wherever they are, while contributing to an enhanced cinema experience.”

Cineworld director of retail Tim Sparrow added: “This partnership marks an exciting step forward in enhancing Cineworld’s customer experience. Costa Coffee is re-energising our coffee spaces and strengthening the role they play in the cinema experience.

“Together, we’re focused on quality, consistency and reach, creating warm and welcoming environments that enhance the visit while keeping cinema at the heart of everything we do.”
