One of the best known figures in the breakfast cereals sector has died from a heart attack.
Les Comley was 60 when he retired in 2000 from Weetabix, where he was the main board director responsible for marketing and export. He joined in 1984 as sales director.
Before Weetabix, Les spent four years at Wilkinson Sword, after 20 years in international sales at Kellogg.
Weetabix chairman and MD Sir Richard George said friends and associates of Les throughout grocery would be devastated by his death.
"He was crucial to the success of the company and contributed a great deal to the development of the breakfast cereal sector through the Association of Cereal Food Manufacturers in the UK and Ceereal in Brussels.
"Les was larger than life, both in stature and personality, and he will be sorely missed."
