Domino’s has launched a seasonal recruitment drive to hire 5,000 new colleagues across the UK and Ireland.
The pizza giant will be looking to recruit more in-store team members and delivery drivers across its 1,400 stores between now and Christmas.
The recruitment drive comes as new research from Domino’s found that 46% of UK workers said they never planned the career they worked in today, instead falling into it by chance or by starting in what was intended to be a short-term job.
Half (50%) said they learnt more of the skills, knowledge and confidence they relied on today through work than education, while 36% said their first job taught them practical skills they never gained from formal learning.
“Across our 1,400 stores in the UK and Ireland, we see first-hand that there is no single route into a successful career,” said Domino’s chief commercial and operating officer Sarah Barron. “These findings are not a rejection of university, which remains the right choice for many, but a reminder that there is more than one route to a successful career.
“People join Domino’s at different stages of their working lives. Some are looking for a first job or seasonal role, some want flexible work that fits around other commitments, and others are looking for a career change, a return to work or an opportunity to build practical business and leadership skills on the job.”
According to Domino’s, nine in 10 store managers started out as an in-store team member or driver, and around one in five seasonal employees (21%) stay with the business beyond their initial role.
Barron added: “Some stay for a few months, while others discover a longer-term career and progress through the business into management and senior roles. With 5,000 roles available between now and the lead-up to Christmas, we want to give more people the opportunity to take that first step and see where it could lead.”
