Albion Tea

Albion’s range of teas would ‘make loose leaf brewing easy’

Former Twinings and Fortnum & Mason tea buyer Angela Pryce has launched a new loose leaf tea brand called Albion Tea.

Its lineup of teas – which come in recyclable tinplate caddies and eco-friendly refill pouches – includes Bourne Valley Breakfast, Earl Grey with English Lavender and Mao Jian Green, Jasmine Pearls, Assam, First Flush Darjeeling, Tie Guan Yin Oolong single-origin brews.

They have rolled out via DTC (rsp: from £9/100g) with the brand “actively engaging with retailers across the UK”.

The teas were sourced “directly from long-standing relationships with growers, many spanning over two decades”, according to the supplier.

Albion paid its growers “well above auction prices to support transparent trade and long-term sustainability”, it added.

“Our mission is simple – to bring you great tea from extraordinary places” said Pryce. “We believe in the simple luxury of loose-leaf tea – naturally healthy, full of flavour, and versatile. Many of our teas can be served cold or brewed multiple times, and our tried and tested teaware makes loose leaf brewing easy.”

Albion is not the only new-to-market tea brand to launch in recent months. In April, the founders of Teapigs rolled out a new everyday tea brand called Spill.

The brand pledges to “bridge the gap between mainstream and speciality tea” while also paying smallholder farmers 50% over the Fairtrade average, plus an additional $0.50/kg directly.
