Faustino Tempranillo BiB

Tempranillo Bag-in-Box has launched in Tesco

Spanish wine brand Faustino has added its first bag-in-box Tempranillo.

Tempranillo Bag-in-Box has launched in Tesco (rsp: £15/1.5L).

The NPD would help meet “rising demand for quality-led, lower-waste formats suited to relaxed, at-home occasions”, said Faustino.

Spanish wine was growing in demand across the off-trade and now accounted for 15% of all off-trade bag in box wine sales, the brand said, citing NIQ data.

Faustino’s new 1.5L Tempranillo Bag-in-Box offered shoppers “a smooth and vibrant red wine from Spain in a convenient, sustainable format”, it added.

“This launch marks a significant step in our strategy to bring premium, heritage-driven wines into formats that meet evolving shopper needs,” said Sara Moore, account manager for Faustino supplier Amber Beverage Group UK.

“This new offering responds to growing demand for convenience, sustainability, and value without compromising on the quality consumers expect from one of Rioja’s most admired producers.”

Faustino is not the only brand betting on the bag-in-box format. In October, Accolade Wines rolled out new compact 1.5L packaging for its Mud House brand in a bid to tackle poor consumer perception of the format. The packaging was also launched on Jam Shed’s bag-in-box malbec in January.

However, bag-in-box wine has continued to see declines in the off-trade in recent months, falling 7.8% year on year on volumes down 11.4% [NIQ 4 we 19 April 2025].
