Klein Caporn has become the first producer to break into the prepared foods sector under the RSPCA-accredited label, Freedom Foods.
The London-based company is rolling out two premium bolognese sauces - called Ragù di Bologna Rosso and Ragù di Bologna Bianco - and it hopes to expand the range if it is successful.
This comes as the Freedom Food label seeks to expand from its base of primary produce such as chicken and eggs.
The beef and veal used in the new sauces has been sourced from Freedom Food-approved farms, where the animals have been reared according to RSPCA welfare standards.
Carrying the slogan ‘slow food fast’, the Klein Caporn sauces are also subject to traceability checks.
Steven Tait, marketing and sales controller of Freedom Food, said: “Working with Klein Caporn has given us a fantastic opportunity to bring the importance of high farm animal welfare standards to a whole new food market.”
The products will initially be stocked in stores including Partridges, Source Richmond and Harvey Nichols.
