Frood is debuting in M&S and Ocado with with four cooking blends

Frood, the food brand of Frida Redknapp, the wife of former footballer Jamie Redknapp, has secured distribution in M&S and Ocado.

Billed as a “modern solution for busy people seeking real food and nutrition”, the brand will debut with four cooking blends: Swedish Meatballs, Bella Bolognese, Golden Curry and Mexi Fiesta (rsp: £3/75g)  and be available from 1 June.

Each pack contains four servings and is “fibre-rich and a natural source of protein”, according to Frood. The blends are made with “gently dried” fruits and vegetables, and contain the equivalent of 560g of raw veg per pack, as well as grains, seeds and plant proteins.

Shoppers can add a protein of choice to the mix to create a “real, nourishing and nutritionally complete” meal in 20 minutes, said the brand. The blends are UPF-free, with no added sugar, flavourings or colours, and are produced without heat or oil.

Redknapp created Frood to “make healthy home cooking simpler for everyone”, she said. “I came up with the idea when I realised that consumers were searching for something that quite simply didn’t exist.

“In a space between packet mixes, meats and herbs – there were no healthy convenience options. As a working mum who prioritises the health of myself and my family, I really believe that convenience shouldn’t have to mean ultra-processed, yet all too often this is the compromise people are having to make.”

Alex Lo, buyer, cooking essentials at Ocado, added: “In a world where everyone is increasingly time-poor and health-conscious, Frood offers a fun and convenient way to assemble your favourite dishes.”
