Gosh has expanded its Super Plants range with two burgers launching into Tesco stores nationwide and online today.

The lines (rsp: £3.25/200g) include Thai style Broccoli & Red Pepper with Ginger & Lemongrass and Middle Eastern inspired Three Bean with Lemon & Garlic.

The Thai style burger contains 18 different plants, 8.6g of fibre and 8.1g of protein per serving. Meanwhile, the Middle Eastern inspired line contains 16 plants, 10g of fibre and 8.7g of protein.

Pointing to research showing that 71% of consumers are concerned about the health impact of UPFs, Gosh said the products had been made “entirely from natural, minimally processed whole foods that are full of plant diversity”.

With 96% of consumers failing to eat their recommended 30g daily intake of fibre and 80% paying more attention to protein in the diets, the burgers responded to demand for “everyday nutritious options”, it added.

Gosh marketing director Caroline Hughes said shoppers today were “driven by more than just taste”.

“They’re looking for food that delivers real value to their health and wellbeing,” she added. “Following the success of our Super Plants Sausages, we’re bringing that same mindset to our new Super Plants Burgers, creating something that helps people feel their best without compromising on flavour.”

Gosh partnered with chefs and registered nutritionist Becca Meadows to develop the range.

She said: “Balanced nutrition is about getting a range of nutrients from real food, and these burgers deliver meaningful amounts of fibre and plant-based protein alongside an incredible diversity of whole plant ingredients.

“But nutritious food also has to work in real life,” she added. “I love that these burgers make it easier to get more nutritional value and plant diversity on to the plate, without making healthy eating feel complicated or inaccessible.”
