Government advisors have proposed a ban on the advertising of alcohol on TV in a bid to stop binge drinking.
The recommendation has been made in a report called Pathways to Problems. It was produced by a group chaired by Laurence Gruer, director of public health science at NHS Health Scotland.
The group has also proposed increases in the excise duty for alcohol to price it outside the range of young people. And it suggests a ban on cinema advertising to under-18s.
In addition, it has called for a halt to drinks companies sponsoring sports and music events for under-18s.
The report also recommends that the legal age for buying tobacco products should be raised from 16 to 18.
