Chilli Bite Ketchup was the ‘perfect way to add a kick to whatever’s on the menu this Halloween’

Heinz has unveiled limited-edition Chilli Bite Ketchup for Halloween.

The sauce has launched via Heinz’s DTC webstore ahead of a rollout in Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Ocado and Home Bargains from 29 September (rsp: £3.39/400ml).

The chilli-flavoured ketchup was designed to “spice up every spooky season soiree”, Heinz said. It was the “perfect way to add a kick to whatever’s on the menu this Halloween”, the brand added.

“For many people, Halloween is no longer just one night – it has become a season of social gatherings, celebrations, and sharing frightfully good food with friends,” said Aditi Hilgers, taste elevation and masterbrand director at Kraft Heinz.

“It is also a great time for tasty new products, and Heinz has a long-standing history of making the most of the occasion by bringing playful, spine-chilling creations to the sauce shelves.”

Heinz has also teamed up with Honest Burgers for a “spooky, limited-edition collab”, which will see it launch a special menu in all restaurants nationwide from 6 October.

The table sauce giant teamed up with Walkers’ Monster Munch last Halloween to launch a limited run of 1,000 Seriously Good Pickled Onion Flavouir Mayo bottles.

In 2024, Heinz faced backlash over its Halloween-themed Smiles’ campaign, which critics said resembled “blackface”.

The ad in question, which depicted a black person with ketchup smeared around their lips, was likened to the old minstrel ads of the 19th century, in which white men wore blackface, painted with large red lips.
