The agreement is seeing the foodservice wholesaler deliver a wide range of frozen foods

JJ Foodservice has secured a £3m-per-year contract with NEPO to supply more than 300 sites across eight northeast councils.

The two-year contract will cover schools, nurseries, cafés, theatres, leisure centres, civic buildings and care services.

The agreement, which began in July, is seeing the foodservice wholesaler deliver a wide range of frozen foods, including bakery, desserts, poultry, fish, fruit, vegetables and plant-based options.

To meet the needs of the contract, JJ has added more than 100 new product lines and expanded its operations with extra drivers and night-shift staff.

“This is a fantastic achievement for our team,” said JJ chief sales officer Baris Kacar. “Our Newcastle team is proud to be playing a bigger role in supporting communities across the northeast.”

NEPO professional services lead Carl Telford added: “Local authorities need suppliers that deliver healthy, nutritious and affordable food while being easy and reliable to work with.

”We are delighted to work with JJ Foodservice, whose strong commitment to service will help us deliver quality, value and choice to the communities we serve.”

It builds on a successful year for the business, which earlier in 2025 also secured a £750,000 contact to supply frozen foods to the Bolton local authority, in addition to its existing grocery supply.

JJ has also added grocery categories to its long-standing frozen foods contract with the Leeds local authority, bringing this total contract value to over £2.5m and Bolton’s to around £1.4m.
