The cereal hit Tesco shelves last week

Shoppers are selling boxes of Kellogg’s Pokémon cereal for as much as £11 on eBay as high levels of demand have left shelves empty of the NPD in some Tesco stores.

Kellogg’s quietly launched the chocolate-flavoured, HFSS-compliant cereal (rsp: £3.50/350g) into Tesco, Booker  and One Stop stores last week. It comes in four limited-edition pack designs, each featuring a Pokémon character. The cereal boxes, which feature Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander, feature on-pack messaging encouraging shoppers to “discover” all four editions.

They are on Clubcard promotion for £2.85 each, but shoppers are selling single boxes for as much as £11 on eBay. Full sets of four boxes are being flogged for as much as £35 on the platform.

Kellogg’s did not announce the launch, but a TikTok video posted by @tescohaydock5326 showing the boxes in store last week quickly gained momentum. It had racked up 33k shares by the time of publication, with some shoppers sharing pictures of empty Tesco shelves in the comments. Others expressed disappointment that the packs do not include collectible Pokémon cards or toys.

When approached by The Grocer, Kellogg’s confirmed the NPD had launched into Tesco, Booker and One Stop  ahead of a “wider grocery rollout planned later this year”.

A spokesperson for Tesco said the cereal was “already proving really popular” with customers. “We have good availability of this line across our large stores,” they added.

The tie-up coincides with Pokémon’s 30th  anniversary. Coffee specialist Grind recently marked the occasion with a limited-edition drop of Pokémon-themed hot beverages, accessories and apparel.

This isn’t the first time Kellogg’s has teamed up with Pokémon. In 2001, it added a limited-edition Pokémon cereal featuring loops and marshmallow pieces shaped like the franchise’s characters.

This latest partnership comes after Kellogg’s rolled out its Bluey Multigrain Cereal in March 2025.
