KFC is partnering with Lancashire-based TikTok sensation SpudBros to launch a limited-edition jacket potato.
The collaboration, which marks 60 years of KFC in the UK and Ireland, is a tribute to the brand’s original restaurant, which opened in Preston in 1965.
The offering, which combines SpudBros’ famous jacket potato and KFC’s Popcorn Chicken, Supercharger Sauce and gravy, will be given away for free from SpudBros’ tram at Preston’s Flag Market on 4 June.
“Preston is where British fried chicken history began,” said KFC UK and Ireland general manager Rob Swain. “Our event and partnership with SpudBros are a way of recognising our heritage in this incredible city and saying thank you to the people of Preston for playing such an important role in our growth story this side of the pond.”
The SpudBros added: “As fellow Lancashire locals, we are all about celebrating the Preston community. That’s why we’re thrilled to be teaming up with KFC to celebrate their 60th birthday and our shared Preston roots with our limited-edition spud.”
The pair will be serving 300 of the limited-edition KFC spuds and 300 original spuds for free on a first come, first served basis.
Alongside the spud, KFC will transform Preston’s Flag Market into a pop-up event on 4 June to celebrate its 60-year history in the city, which will include an immersive museum and secret cinema.
The tie-up comes as Subway is extending its ‘Spudway’ jacket potato trial after it “outperformed expectations”.
The quick-service restaurant brand first launched the trial in February, offering hot jacket potatoes with toppings from its signature sandwich ingredients. The trial will now run until September 2025.
