Lakes Ice Cream said it was the first ice cream producer licensed to create products under the Beatrix Potter brand

Lakes Ice Cream has unveiled two Beatrix Potter-inspired ice creams, marking the first time the much-loved children’s characters have appeared in the category.

Peter Rabbit Vanilla and Flopsy Bunny Strawberry will launch in July, coinciding with the 160th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth (rsp: £2.50–£3/125ml). They will be available to wholesalers and grocery in cases of 24. Booths and James Hall Spars have confirmed they will be stocking the range.

The launch is part of a new partnership with Penguin Ventures, the licensing and consumer products division of Penguin Random House. Lakes Ice Cream said it was the first ice cream producer licensed to create products under the Beatrix Potter brand, marking a “significant milestone” in the growth of its business and the wider ice cream and frozen food market.

The company plans to expand the range next year, introducing additional characters and flavours to align with the 125th anniversary of Peter Rabbit. The partnership is expected to support “further growth, innovation and job creation within the region”, the company added.

Lakes Ice Cream is made in the heart of the Lake District, an area closely associated with Beatrix Potter, who lived and worked there and drew inspiration from its landscape.

“This is a hugely exciting moment for our business, and we are incredibly proud of securing the contract with The World Of Peter Rabbit, which is a testament to the quality of our products and creativity of our team,” said Andrea King, area sales manager at Lakes Ice Cream.

Jess Houston, senior licensing manager at Penguin Ventures, added: “It is exciting to work with the team on celebrating the synergies between both brands and bring delicious ice cream to the Lake District and beyond”.
