Lowrie’s Cash and Carry is on the acquisition trail to boost its retail estate after generating sales uplifts of 60% at its first company-owned stores.
Newcastle-based Lowrie’s made its first foray into retail in February after picking up eight Right Choice c-stores from Andy Smallman and Steve McArdle, who led an MBO at the chain
in January.
The stores, now run by former Mills Group operations manager David Wise, will be rebadged in the autumn as Lifestyle Express for pure c-stores, and Lifestyle Extra for neighbourhood stores, said MD Peter Lowrie. “The plan is to build the company-owned estate to 12-15 stores in the short term, and to recruit an equal number of delivered customers to the Lifestyle fascia on a franchise basis.”
