McDonald’s is bringing McGriddles, a cult US breakfast item, over to the UK and Ireland for a limited time.

Available from Tuesday 17 March, McGriddles pairs a sausage patty, free-range egg and a slice of cheese with maple-infused griddle cakes in a “sweet-and-savoury twist on a classic McDonald’s breakfast”, the brand said.

McGriddles first launched in the US in 2003 and has since built a “global fanbase”, according to the fast food brand. The breakfast item is available in Canada, Japan and Hong Kong, and last year also launched in Australia.

The UK McGriddles, which are priced at £3.99, are made with a freshly cooked egg, sourced exclusively from British and Irish free-range farms, all RSPCA Assured.

Ahead of the launch, McDonald’s is rolling out a ‘spend £15, save £3’ promotion across breakfast orders. Customers who spend £15 or more on breakfast items via McDelivery between 13 March and 29 March will receive £3 off their total transaction.

It comes as McDonald’s has unveiled its Easter menu featuring a new Cadbury Mini Eggs Frappe and Cadbury Mini Eggs McFlurry.

Returning items also include the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry, Spicy McNuggets, Double Big Mac, and the Double Big Mac with Bacon.
