McDonald’s has launched its 2025 Christmas advert featuring Dr Seuss’s The Grinch, who has a plot to ‘sabotage’ Christmas meals.

The advert opens inside The Grinch’s Lair on Mount Crumpit, where he creates gherkin seasoning for fries, which he believes the families in Whoville will “truly despise”, setting the stage for the arrival of the new The Grinch Meal at McDonald’s.

Landing in all UK and Ireland McDonald’s restaurants today (26 November), customers can choose from a Big Mac, nine Chicken McNuggets, or McPlant with the new Grinched McShaker Fries, featuring gherkin-flavoured seasoning, alongside a drink of choice.

Each meal also includes a pair of limited-edition Mis-Matched Grinch x McDonald’s Socks, a nod to one of The Grinch’s pranks from his lair, where he stated: “They’re all in for shocks when I knit them odd socks.”

The 30-second advert debuted on Tuesday 25 November at 8.45pm during the live coverage of the UEFA Champions League on TNT and at 9.30pm during I’m a Celebrity on ITV.

Beyond The Grinch Meal, the fast food chain’s new festive menu includes a Frozen Grinch Lemonade, Coconut Latte and Coconut Hot Chocolate, and a Grumble Pie with apple, cranberry and custard in green pastry.

McDonald’s will also be rolling out the Cheesy Chicken Stack – a crispy chicken breast fillet with cheese, lettuce and Chipotle Salsa, alongside the return of Cheese Melt Dippers and the Big Tasty. For the first time ever, customers can choose between the Big Tasty or the Double Big Tasty with an optional bacon add-on for both.

McDonald’s is not the only retailer to feature The Grinch in its 2025 Christmas campaign. Earlier this month, supermarket giant Asda unveiled its “Asda Green” Grinch which begins to enjoy the run-up to Christmas, converted by the “Asda Prices” on display at his local store.
