The Meat and Livestock Commission has confirmed the appointment of Kevin Roberts as director general.
Roberts had been acting director general after the resignation of Gwyn Howells in October. MLC chairman Peter Barr said: "There was a great deal of competition for the position, but we were unanimous that Kevin's skills and experience were best suited to take the MLC into a bold future."
Roberts added: "The most important challenges will be to get better margins and greater transparency in the supply chain."
Roberts joined the MLC as finance controller (designate).
