New York Bakery has retired its Fibre Plus bagel, some 18 months after launching the line.
The seeded bagel was launched in April 2025 but discontinued in September 2026, the baker told The Grocer.
“Fibre remains an important part of a balanced diet and has long been a consideration in our product development, with all of our supermarket bagels providing a source of fibre,” a spokesperson for New York Bakery said.
“Our focus remains on making great-tasting bagels people want to eat, with nutritional benefits providing an additional reason to choose them.”
Fibre Plus was introduced last year alongside Protein Boost and Lighter bagels as part of a new Health & Wellness range from New York Bakery.
The range was created in response to growing demand for functional foods and aimed to meet shifting consumer needs across protein, fibre and reduced-calorie foods, the supplier said at the time.
Fibre Plus was high in fibre and made with a blend of seeds and grains. Protein Boost boasts 10g of plant-based protein per bagel, with Lighter containing 30% fewer calories than the brand’s Original Bagels.

Protein Boost and Lighter had not been discontinued and remained stocked in retail, New York Bakery said.
Fibre Plus lasted just four months on Tesco shelves, having appeared in the retailer on 2 April 2025 before being delisted on 13 August 2025, according to Assosia data.
The NPD was also listed by Asda and Morrisons, but was last seen in those retailers in July and August 2026 respectively.
New York Bakery is not the only bakery brand to recently withdraw a high-fibre product. Last week, Warburtons confirmed it had pulled its Fibre Fix range in the summer, just months after launching it in January.
Value sales of New York Bakery products fell by 11.7%, on volumes down 23.8%, in the 12 months to 21 January 2026, according to NIQ data.
