Penderyn, the only whisky to be distilled in Wales, is launching a new half bottle on the back of the brand’s arrival last year.
Sales of the single malt from The Welsh Whisky Company have exceeded expectations since its launch on St David’s Day in 2004. The company has high hopes for the new smaller bottle, which it hopes will attract consumers who want to try Penderyn, as well as gift-hunters.
Stephen Davies, MD of the Welsh Whisky Company, said: "It has been a remarkable first 18 months for Penderyn and we are now building on the success we have achieved to date. The future for Penderyn looks extremely bright.”
A 35cl half bottle of the 46% abv whisky sells for £14.75 and each bottle is finished by hand.
The launch of Penderyn in 2004 signalled the return of whisky distillation to Wales after an absence of over 100 years.
