Pizza Express has brought its popular restaurant kids’ meal to grocery for the first time, as it looks to bring more of its restaurant favourites into the home.
The Piccolo Pizza launch would allow families to recreate the Pizza Express experience at home, the restaurant brand said.
The packs (rsp: £4) contain two margherita pizzas, two ‘pizzaiolo’ hats and crayons, and activities to keep children entertained. They have landed exclusively in Sainsbury’s stores.
To support the launch, an on-pack promotion will give families the chance to win a Shaun the Sheep-inspired adventure to Longleat Safari Park, as part of Pizza Express’s partnership with the Sky Original film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom.
Pizza Express has also added Cacio e Pepe dough balls to its Sainsbury’s lineup. The dough balls are coated in parsley butter and finished with pecorino, regato, garlic and black pepper (rsp: £4).
Also launching in Sainsbury’s for a limited time is Calabrese, a pizza topped with calabrese, spicy ’nduja sausage, red chilli and roasted peppers (rsp: £6).
“As the only pizza brand that spans both restaurants and supermarkets, we’re uniquely placed to bring true restaurant quality into homes,” said Richard Mills, retail director at Pizza Express. “From Piccolo to Calabrese and Dough Balls, these launches give pizza fans even more ways to enjoy the Pizza Express experience wherever they choose to eat.”
The grocery push comes after Pizza Express launched its signature Pizzanaise restaurant dip in Sainsbury’s and Ocado in May.
