Pizza Hut UK is to launch a new nationwide training programme for employees in its dine-in restaurants this summer.

On Sunday 19 July, all team members across every Pizza Hut restaurant will come together to take part in the programme, which will cover every aspect of restaurant operations, including food quality, service standards, teamwork and communication.

The fast food chain said the programme would “reinforce a sustained focus on product excellence and high quality standards” and would enable all restaurant teams to deliver “consistently excellent pizzas”.

All Pizza Hut restaurants will open one hour later on 19 July to ensure every team member can participate in the new initiative. Doors will open for service at 12 noon.

The training programme is expected to become a recurring annual session across the brand’s restaurants, incorporated into the overarching employee development programme.

“At Pizza Hut, our people and the quality of our food are at the heart of everything we do,” said Pizza Hut Restaurants UK general manager Gino Casciani. “That’s why we continue to invest in our teams, strengthening and supporting them to deliver the best possible guest experiences and pizzas of the very highest quality, whilst also helping them grow and thrive.

“Today, a third of our restaurant team members are celebrating five or more years of service – a testament to the opportunities, support, and culture we provide.”

It follows the announcement in June that Yum Brands is to sell the Pizza Hut brand in a £2bn deal.

It will be sold as part of two separate transactions, with Pizza Hut, excluding mainland China, being sold to private equity firm LongRange Capital for £1.1bn. Pizza Hut China will be sold to Yum China for £894.7m.

Following a review of strategic options for the pizza chain, Yum said a sale provided the “strongest path to maximise shareholder value while providing Pizza Hut an ownership structure tailored to its distinct markets, competitive strengths and long-term priorities under leadership with significant relevant QSR experience”.
