Independent Norfolk-based fruit farming and ingredients business Place UK has appointed co-managing directors for the first time in its 72-year history.
Linda Evans and Matt Smith stepped into their new roles on 12 March, having been commercial director and finance director respectively.
As co-managing directors, Evans will lead on commercial, people and culture, with Smith overseeing finance, IT and operations.
“We have an exceptional team at Place UK, and I am delighted to take on this new role with Linda,” Smith said. “We share the belief that our people are our most important asset, and we’re looking forward to empowering colleagues to continue delivering an exceptional range of products and services to our customers.”
During peak fruit picking season, Plant UK employs up to 630 people, and its produce includes strawberries, raspberries, cherries and blackberries, as well as rhubarb.
The business’ on-site processing and packing facility, including IQF (individual quick frozen) capabilities, supplies end-to-end ingredients solutions, including fruits, pulses, grains, rice, and beans to some of the biggest names in the UK food industry.
Evans added: “I’m looking forward to jointly leading this ambitious family-founded business as it continues a high growth trajectory.”
