Popeyes UK has opened its 14th London site with a new flagship restaurant on Tottenham Court Road.

Opening today (2 April), the restaurant will offer takeaway, delivery, and dine-in options, with the capacity to seat up to 72 customers. It will also have self-service kiosks and collection points.

The New Orleans-founded chicken chain is set to create 112 new jobs through the opening, which marks its 10th new restaurant this year. Since entering the UK in 2021, Popeyes now operates over 100 sites nationwide.

The move to open more restaurants in London reflects high demand among customers in the capital for its Shatter Crunch Savers chicken menu and its Chicken Sandwiches, one of which is sold every eight seconds in the region.

“After opening our 100th store in the capital last year, we couldn’t wait to add another central London location on the map,” said Popeyes UK CEO Tom Crowley.

“Tottenham Court Road is full of energy and vibrancy – the perfect spot for us to showcase a bit more of that Louisiana spirit we’re famous for.”

It comes as last month Popeyes UK secured the master franchise development agreement to operate the Popeyes brand in the Republic of Ireland.

The first restaurant is set to open in Blanchardstown, Dublin, this spring, with a “pipeline of additional restaurant openings” across the country, including a “megastore” in Dublin.

The expansion into Ireland will create up to 500 new jobs this year, with more to come as part of the chain’s longer-term ambitions to grow its Irish presence.
