PB Group has snapped up heritage sports nutrition brand CNP Professional in a move to strengthen its wholesaler subsidiary, Protein Bargain Wholesale.
Completed in early June, the deal added CNP – which gained fame supplying nutrition supplements to Team Sky – to a growing brand portfolio, including Mountain Joe’s and Per4M, which produce protein bars and powders respectively.
“This moment is a personal milestone for me,” said Stephen Smullen, founder and CEO of PB Group.
“CNP was the very first brand I worked closely with when I began my career in sports nutrition nearly 18 years ago. It’s come full circle, and I couldn’t be prouder to now welcome it into the PB Group portfolio. By bringing CNP into our family, we are better positioned to deliver value to our customers and stakeholders across the UK and European market.”
PB Group acquired 100% of CNP’s shares and assets under the deal, and will add its products to Protein Bargain Wholesale’s listings.
CNP was founded in 1998 by former British bodybuilding champion Kerry Kayes. It has since passed through various ownerships, including First Milk in 2012, and The Protein Partners in 2016. It manufactures from its own facility in Manchester.
