The rapidly growing Regal Foods Group has snapped up tropical soft drinks brand Suncrest, revitalising the brand with a launch directly into Asda.
Regal, a £39m-turnover bakery and South Asian food specialist, said the purchase of Suncrest was a “milestone” in its growth journey.
Founded in 1985, the brand is particularly well-known in Asia for its range of tropical fruit-flavoured beverages, including the South Asian favourite, lassi – a smooth, fruity yoghurt drink.
“As a well-loved and recognisable soft drinks brand, Suncrest is a natural fit for our expanding beverage portfolio and supports our long-term growth strategy,” said Regal CEO Younis Chaudhry.
The acquisition follows rapid growth for Regal, which in the year to 31 May 2024 swelled its revenues by 22.8% to £39m, and more than doubled its operating profit to £2.2m.
Gross margin improved from 10.2% to 11.9% over the year.
Having bought the Suncrest brand from the PE-owned KTC Edibles for an undisclosed sum, Regal will now launch a new bottled variant into Asda stores nationwide.
“We are particularly excited to reintroduce Suncrest to consumers, with a focus on new product development and innovation to drive the brand forward,” Chaudhry said.
Landing before 20 October’s Diwali celebration, the range will feature mango, tropical, lychee and guava flavours.
In April 2025, the manufacturer jumped on the Dubai chocolate trend with a bespoke Dubai Style Kunafa Cheesecake produced for Morrisons by its Patisserie Regale brand.
In the same month, the company won listings on Ocado for its Regal Foods and Yorkshire Baking Company brands, including bombay mix, cakes, juices and popcorn.
