A major poultry supplier has gone into administration. Yorkshire based Bronte Foods supplies more than 200 lines of fresh and frozen poultry products to UK multiples and for export.
Administrators Ernst and Young said they were hoping to see the company as a going concern to safeguard the 400 jobs at two production sites near Bradford.
Investment in updated production facilities followed a management buyout in 1999. However, despite annual sales approaching £28m, Bronte Foods has been under severe competitive pressure from low-cost overseas suppliers.
